Plot
Mathew is a doctor who works in a hospital in the Tamil Nadu – Kerala border. Mathew is popular in that area, as he not only helps people to get cured of their physical illness but also gives counselling to the people with mental trauma. In his childhood, Mathew lived in Mangalore with his mother, where he had a haunting past. When Mathew was seen as a good doctor, he has another face. He kidnapped Swathi, the daughter of a doctor, and locked her in a secret room. Why did he kidnap Swathi? Was Swathi able to escape from that place? The rest of the film speaks about these.
Star Performance
Raj Shetty is a versatile actor, and he has proved this in Mollywood for the first time. Aparna did what was required of her.
Analysis
Rudhiram is another psychological thriller in the row of that genre. Though Raj and Aparna did their roles well, this is not their cup of tea, and they deserve better roles. The first half showcases Mathew’s dual characters and the second half showcases action scenes and the major scenes involving Mathew and Swathi. The film has a lot of clichéd elements, including the scenes involving physical abuse. If the story had been approached from a different angle, it would have appealed better.
